FAQs and tips for using Symplectic
I have a PWP but I don't have a Symplectic account - where do I maintain my professional activities?
If you do not have a Symplectic account, you will not be able to view, access or maintain the data held in your Honours and Memberships, Research and Teaching (Faculty of Medicine only) pages on your PWP. To maintain this information you will need to set up a Symplectic account. To do this please get in touch with your Faculty Web Officer.
I want to change the information on my PWP - where do I update this information?
You manage and maintain your data alongside publication information within your Symplectic account.

How do I change what publications appear on my PWP?
Publications that you mark as a favourite using the heart icon in Symplectic will appear under the heading ‘Selected Publications’. If there are no favourites, the system will take the top 5 and link to your other publications at the bottom with ‘More’. You can remove publications from your PWP using the hide icon (next to the heart) in Symplectic.
How do I upload full text into the digital repository, Spiral?

How do I link an output to a training grant?
Training grants with G codes are not imported to Symplectic Elements - if you wish to link an output to a training grant you can select the option to add this grant manually.
How do I find my h-index?
Your h-index can be found under your publications summary on your Symplectic home screen.
There are no facilities/pieces of equipment listed on the linking screen
By default you’ll be shown the facilities you’re identified as a user of, however you can remove this filter and use the search option to identify all facilities listed in Symplectic.
The option to link to Research Groups is not available on the linking screen
An administrator must have assigned you to an Organisational Structure (research group/ section/ cross faculty centres, etc.), before you will see the Organisational Structures heading on the linking page and in the left navigation. If you don’t see the Organisation Structures heading or your groups on the linking screen, contact your Faculty Web Officer.
How do I display publications on a group’s website?
If you want to find out more about adding a publication list to your group website, contact your Faculty Web Officer.
